It's important to clean your rods after use, wiping them down with a cloth or towel and ensuring that they’re dry before storing them away. This can go a long way when it comes to ensuring top performance from your carp fishing gear – along with preventing the growth of mould in your luggage. 

Getting reels serviced ensures they function smoothly and will last for years if cared for properly (ensuring you get your money's worth). How frequently you use them and what sort of abuse you put them through will dictate how regularly you should get them serviced. Typically, high-end carp reels should be serviced at least once a year. This can either be through a reel servicing company or at home, depending on your confidence level and how thorough a servicing is required.

Dry your bivvy or brolly properly before packing it away. Damp fabric leads to mould, and nothing ruins a good day out like a shelter that smells like a wet dog! If you can’t dry it properly out on the bank, air it out at your earliest chance to avoid mould setting in.
