 Our Story – Passion for Carp Fishing

CPS Tackle first opened its doors on the 10th of April 2010, founded by me, Keith Roberts. After spending years helping run our family business manufacturing polishing products, I found myself with more time on my hands due to a slowdown in trade. That’s when I made the decision to follow my passion and turn it into something more. I’d seen a clear gap in the market for a dedicated carp fishing tackle shop offering top-end brands like Trakker, Nash Tackle, Solar, Delkim, Korda, and Fox. So, I set out to build something carp anglers could rely on.

I reached out to suppliers, but most wouldn’t deal with me unless I had a physical store. One rep from Daiwa Sports took the time to visit, and after showing him my plans, he smiled and said, “You build it, and I’ll support you.” That was all the motivation I needed.

Starting with a blank canvas on a mezzanine floor in my parents’ unit, I built the shop myself—walls, stairs, fittings—the lot. Within six months, while still working my day job, CPS Tackle was up and running. And within just ten months, we’d already outgrown the space.

Fast forward to August 2018, we moved into a brand-new 5,000 sq. ft. unit just down the road. Myself, my two sons, and our small team worked tirelessly to clean and transform it into a clean, open, and fully stocked tackle shop we could be proud of. That same work ethic and pride still fuels everything we do today.

With over 40 years of carp fishing experience under my belt—and having caught carp to over 68lb—I’m always available to offer genuine, honest advice. My two sons, Brandon and Jamie, are both keen carp anglers too, with Brandon landing fish over 50lb himself. This isn’t just our livelihood—it’s our lifestyle. And that passion comes across in everything we do.

Meet the Team

Keith – Founder & Owner

I’ve been fishing since the 1970s and bring decades of knowledge and experience to the shop. Whether you’re after advice on baiting, rods, or rigs, I’m always happy to help and offer my advice.

Brandon – Store Manager

My eldest son, Brandon, keeps the shop running smoothly day to day. He’s a skilled carp angler and offers expert guidance in-store and online. Always friendly, always helpful.

Jamie – Sales & Operations

My youngest son, Jamie works alongside Brandon, making sure everything runs smoothly and on time. From customer support to picking up on the finer details, he keeps things sharp behind the scenes and up front.

Sarah – Accounts & Support

A close family friend, Sarah’s been part of CPS Tackle from the early days. She handles our accounts and isn’t afraid to muck in when things get busy in-store.

Together, we’re a tight-knit team that cares about doing things right. Everyone here plays a key role in delivering the top-level service CPS Tackle has become known for.
